A CLACTON care home has received across the board ‘good ‘ratings from government inspectors.

The Care Quality Commission gave the ratings for its service being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Corner House Care Home in Wash Lane has 57 beds and offers residential and respite care for the elderly, plus a 24-hour care and domiciliary service.

A year ago, it also opened a reablement unit, which was transferred from Clacton Hospital.

Administration manager Michelle Cripps said: “Our recent overall good report from the Care Quality Commission is a great encouragement for us all here in the home.

“The authenticity of our person-centred care is recognised and promoted among our community.”

The commission praised the home’s “consistent leadership of a high standard”.

It added: “The manager is well organised and committed to supporting an open and positive culture that is person centred.

The staff told us that the manager was supportive and easy to talk to.

“The manager was responsible for monitoring the quality and safety of the service and asked people for their views so that improvements identified were made where possible.

“The service offered an extensive programme of activities and entertainment that was developed for people individually.”
