RESIDENTS can join forces with war veterans to commemorate the end of the Second World War in Europe this Sunday.

The Royal British Legion is staging a VE Day service at Clacton war memorial this Sunday at 11am.

The service will be led by Rev Norman Issberner with an exhortation by Clacton RBL president Dan Casey.

There will be a reading by Tendring Council vice chairman Mark Platt.

Mr Platt said: “It is a time for all the forces organisations, standard bearers, and members of the public to stand side by side to remember the end of the Second World War in Europe.

“It is always a very moving service and we are hoping for a good turnout and welcome anyone who wants to come along to join us at the war memorial.”
