A SALON boss has branded burglars “lowlifes” after they used a brick to smash their way into her store and steal the till.

Two Clacton businesses were targeted by raiders on the same night last week.

IndiGlo beauty salon in Old Road was burgled between 9pm on Wednesday night and 6am the next morning, while the Kwik Fit garage in nearby Carnarvon Road was also hit overnight.

Crooks used a brick to break a glass panel in the front door of the Old Road salon to get inside.

They ripped the till from the counter and made a run for it.

IndiGlo owner Amy Shelley said: “I was messaged early in the morning by one of our neighbours who had seen the damage.

“She had phoned the police and I went straight down to have a look.

“The front window had been put through and we found a brick which we think was used to break it.

“I was absolutely gutted and it has been a nightmare.

“I think the people who do this sort of thing are complete lowlifes and scumbags.”

Amy was left waiting for the insurance company and police to take action but managed to stay open after the clean-up.

She added: “We just want to get everything sorted again. There is such a community spirit here and people have been so great helping us.”

The salon till was discovered smashed and empty in Warwick Road.

A brick was also thrown through the glass door at Kwik Fit.

The till was also taken from the garage and found abandoned in Oxford Road on Thursday.

The two crimes took place on the same night, within half a mile of each other, using the same method and with the same contents stolen.

Police are investigating the incidents. A spokesman said it is not yet clear if they are linked, but they are being looked at together.

IndiGlo salon staff managed to track down CCTV footage of two suspects from a nearby shop and have passed the information on to officers.
