FUNDRAISERS will be cycling almost 900 miles to help raise cash for a disabled girl.

Iyla Rose Harvey, two, was diagnosed with Wolf Hirschhorn syndrome when she was born.

She spent the first five months of her life in hospital due to the genetic disorder, which affects different parts of the body, causing abnormalities and delayed growth.

MarkHoward, who works with Iyla’s dad, Matthew, will be cycling 886 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats between June 9 and June 19.

He will be joined by East of England Ambulance Service employees to raise money for the Fight for Iyla charity, which has been set up to help the youngster.

Mark has also been handed a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes Essex from its Community Champions scheme.

Iyla’s mum Chloe Bradwell, of Fairfield Road, Clacton, said: “We were delighted Mark has decided to take on this gruelling challenge and that once again he has kindly chosen to support Iyla.

“To hear Persimmon Homes has made this generous donation is a huge bonus.

“As Iyla is growing up she will need specialist equipment to help her.

“She needs a specialist car seat as her current one is not giving her the support she needs due to her scoliosis and poor muscle tone.”

Persimmon Homes’ Kim Oates said: “We’re delighted to be able to support Iyla and her family by sponsoring Mark on this incredible challenge.

“We were touched to read Iyla’s story. Community Champions gives us a perfect way to support good causes like this and we hope the money can be used to make her life more comfortable.”

The Gazette previously teamed up with the Tavern in Holland-on-Sea to raise cash for specialist equipment for Iyla, including a pram and sensory toys.
