A MAN suffered suspected knife wounds during a “serious” incident at a house in Clacton.

Five police cars and an ambulance were called to Groom Park, off Old Road, shortly after 12.15pm on Tuesday.

A man aged in his 30s suffered puncture wounds, which are not believed to be life threatening, to his shoulder and hand.

The East of England Ambulance Service said an ambulance crew attended the man, who was later taken to Colchester General Hospital for further treatment.

One witness said: “I live in Groom Park and the police wouldn't let us down there.

“I had to let my mum drop me off and walk through.

“They've blocked off a house. They said I could walk through on the other side of the road, but there had been a very serious incident.

“They were putting tape up as I was walking past. There was an ambulance there and five police cars.

“They said they are going to be there for quite a while.”

Richard Burke, 59, of Groom Park has been charged with causing grevious bodily harm and will appear before Magistrates in Colchester on Wednesday.
