A PRIVATE security firm patrol boss has rubbished comparisons with the infamous Kray twin mobsters and organised an event to answer residents’ concerns.

Holland-on-Sea based firm AGS has been carrying out overnight patrols in Frinton and Holland.

It charges households £2 a week to be covered by the service – set up to fill the void left by police cuts.

The scheme has met with a mixed reaction and boss Stephen Beardsley has organised a special session to get feedback from residents.

He said: “We have had a lot of positive comments on what we’re doing, but a few negative as well. That will always be the case.

“But we have had some people compare us to the Kray twins, calling us thugs and vigilantes.

“That’s just ridiculous. It couldn’t be further from the truth. We act within the law and work with the police and the council to help keep the area safe.

“I’ve set up this event and I want people to come along, have a free cup of tea or coffee and ask questions, positive or negative, and find out more about us.

“Hopefully we can put some concerns to rest.”

Mr Beardsley says he has also recently been approached by representatives from Thorpe who are interested in the scheme being introduced there.

The event is being held today at the Kingscliff Hotel, Holland- on-Sea, from 11am-3pm.
