A FRUSTRATED resident has launched a plea for neighbours to stop creating trash-bag mountains in a Walton street.

Black binbags have been piled up into huge heaps in Mill Lane, just off High Street.

They are left there for days before being picked up by waste collectors.

One pile grew so large, it blocked a large mural, painted on a former eyesore wall in 2013 in an effort to brighten up the area.

A resident, who asked not to be named, said: “The rubbish is collected on a Tuesday morning, but people start putting the bags out again there basically from Tuesday evening onwards.

“I guess they just don’t want the rubbish in their gardens.

“But it leaves the road looking a real state. People even have to walk into the road to get around the bags.

“Last week, I counted 24 bags in one pile, and 19 in another before it was collected. It is a horrible sight, especially so close to the high street.”

Tendring Council arranged an early collection on Monday morning after several complaints.

But calls have been made for offending residents to stop piling the bags outside and prevent the problem building up.

Councillors said they were aware of the ongoing problem and would investigate.
