A DIY firm has created 13 new jobs after opening a new store in Clacton.

The Screwfix store is opening in Valleybridge Road last week as part of the company’s ongoing expansion plans.

Manager Ian Stanley said his team had been looking forward to the launch.

“We’ve created 13 brand new vacancies and have employed local people from around the Clacton area,” he said.

“Our new team includes people of all ages and levels of experience, but the most important requirement is that they have the right attitude and can offer superb customer service.”

The store is holding a screw-drilling competition for tradesmen and DIY-ers, with the fastest time winning a 40-inch Toshiba smart TV.

There is also a ten per cent discount off everything and other special offers until Sunday.

Ian added: “I’m confident that we’ve got a great location here in Clacton.

“My team and I have already been out and about getting to know local businesses and tradesmen, and we’ve all been struck by how friendly everyone has been.”
