A GANG of yobs forced open the emergency escape door on a bus from outside the vehicle as it drove through Frinton town centre.

The bus was moving along Connaught Avenue at low speed when it was targeted.

A group, including two male suspects on bikes and ten males on foot, managed to get alongside the bus and pull its emergency door open while it was moving.

The driver saw the incident happen and had to carry out an emergency stop.

One passenger suffered minor injuries due to the sudden braking.

The door is only meant to be opened in an emergency, but can be operated from inside or outside the vehicle as a safety precaution.

The incident happened at about 5.50pm last Tuesday.

Police are investigating and have already interviewed passengers.

Anyone else who was on the bus, witnessed the incident or saw the yobs and can provide information should call the police on 101.
