A FRINTON pub looks set to install CCTV cameras after a violent fight erupted in the town’s Connaught Avenue.

A brawl broke out inside the Lock and Barrel pub earlier this month.

The offending customers were ejected, but the fight carried on into the street, leaving a trail of blood on the pavement.

Since the incident, Tendring Council licensing officers have met Lock and Barrel bosses in an effort to clamp down on any future trouble.

The pub’s premises manager and the brewery company that owns the venue have been involved in safety discussions.

They are investigating extra security measures, including CCTV cameras.

Council licensing boss Mark Platt said: “The discussions that took place were very positive and productive, and measures have been agreed with the pub’s owners and its management.

“These include increased CCTV coverage inside and outside the premises, which will help safeguard against any future problems.”

Mr Platt said there had been genuine concern and a willingness to take action from pub bosses after the June 5 brawl.

He added: “They know what a special place Frinton is and want to enjoy a really good relationship with residents and visitors as a community-orientated pub located in the heart of a closeknit and peaceful community."
