A YOUNGSTER born with a condition that leaves him in agony every day could be set for pioneering surgery – if £40,000 can be raised over the next year.
Brave Riley Garner, of Frinton Road, Kirby Cross, was born with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy.
The four-year-old, who was diagnosed after an MRI scan when he was younger, is often in pain and unlikely ever to be able to walk.
But after a recent visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital, his parents were told Riley is eligible for groundbreaking neurosurgery.
Mum Aline said: “The surgery would be a permanent pain relief and make an incredible difference to the quality of his life.”
The surgery and aftercare are not funded by the NHS and will cost about £40,000.
Riley’s parents have one year to raise the cash needed for the operation.
