A MAN from Clacton has denied taking part in violent and racist attacks outside a bar in Colchester.

It is alleged a number of people were assaulted outside V Bar, in High Street, while being subjected to a tirade of foul-mouthed abuse.

James Martin, 22, of Marine Parade East, Clacton, denied racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday.

He also denied one charge of affray and another assault against another victim.

It is also alleged he smashed through a door at the bar, causing criminal damage, a charge he also denied, during a series of incidents on September 19 last year.

Drew Hennebry, 19, of Spruce Avenue, Colchester, also denied racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray and a separate assault on another victim.

A third man, Jack Monteith, of Harwood Close, Colchester, denied one charge of actual bodily harm.

All three were released on bail until a trial, due to be held in November.
