A POST mortem examination has revealed a man murdered in Clacton died from "several stab wounds" to the upper body.

James Gregoire, 54, of Old Road, Clacton, died after being stabbed in Rosemary Road at about 11.45pm on Monday.

A 21-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday remains in hospital receiving treatment under police guard.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "A post mortem examination has revealed that Mr Gregoire died from several stab wounds to the upper body."

The victim has now also been formally identified by police.

Essex Police had confirmed Mr Gregoire was stabbed with a "bladed weapon" which has yet to be found.

A man in his 20s was yesterday also in hospital in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

Another man received minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment following the incident, which took place following an altercation in a flat in High Street.
