IT'S that time of year again and with Easter holidays comes more than just chocolate, egg hunts and bunnies, schoolchildren will be off school for two weeks. 

We've put together a list of some events and activities for kids to keep them occupied. 

1. Essex Outdoors this Easter is offering a range of children’s activities on offer from high ropes to orienteering.

School Holiday Activity Days, where children can take part in up to four fun activities in one day, are on offer at Essex Outdoors centres across the county.

Children and young people aged from 8 to 16 can take part in activities which include aerial trekking, archery, BMX biking, bushcraft, canoeing, climbing, high ropes, low ropes, obstacle course, orienteering and zip wire.

Activity Days are taking place from Monday 30 March to Thursday 2 April and Tuesday 7 April to Friday 10 April at Danbury and Harlow. Activity days at Mersea are taking place from Monday 30 March to Thursday 2 April as well as Thursday 9 April and Friday 10 April.

Essex Outdoors at Bradwell is holding an Activity Day on Tuesday 7 April and a Canoe Day on Thursday 2 April.

For children who like climbing, there are Climbing Days at Harlow on each Tuesday and Thursday of the Easter holidays.

Essex Outdoors in Harlow is also running Aiming High for Disabled Children activity days for children aged eight and above. Activities include high ropes, orienteering and scramble nets. These take place on Monday 30 March, Wednesday 1 April, Wednesday 8 April and Friday 10 April.

Courses cost £30 a day, with a special offer of buy four days get one day free. Places on the Aiming High for Disabled Children activity days are available free of charge.

2. Essex's longest egg hunt? 

Bertie Bunny, will be hosting what could be Essex's longest Easter Egg Hunt on 3, 4, 5 & 6 April this year. The hunt which is the length of 131,579 eggs laid end to end will take in features and sights along the length of the Epping Ongar Railway from Ongar through to Coopersale.

3. Celebrate spring this holiday and join us on RSPB West Canvey Marsh to discover all that it has to offer.

Head off on a spring scavenger hunt, find out more about the wildlife at this time of year and win yourself a spring surprise. Activities will include ditch dipping, minibeast hunting and much more!

4. Easter trail through Billericay

5. Easter craft morning at CGCC Chelmsford, 4 Hanbury Road, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 3AE on Monday, March 30.

A fun Easter Craft morning for all ages. Come and make some Easter/spring crafts. Also an easter egg hunt and Easter story. £2.50 per child. 10am - 11.30am. Booking is essential and payment on day.

6. Rochford District Council has put together a brochure of all Easter Holiday activities online. 

These include trips to London Museums for just £9 per person, swimming, arts & crafts, climbing and canoeing.

7. Community Easter Egg Hunt & Spring Fayre in Stanford-le-Hope 

Come and have a fun filled few hours on Tuesday, March 31 from 12pm-3pm. Meeting the Easter Bunny and his friends, trying a bit of craft and searching for eggs! BBQ, Bouncy Castles from Bizzy Bouncers, Stalls - All the usual Hardie Park fun!

8.  Lyngo Theatre's Puss In Boots is at Colchester Arts Centre on Saturday 4th April featuring CBeebies' Patrick Lynch.

Patrick’s storytelling performance is captivating for all the family. A show promised to surprise and delight us with trapdoors, puppets and shadow play.

9. The Laboratory at Wat Tyler Country Park in Pitsea has lots on offer this Easter Holidays. 

Workshops include making edible treats, easter cards, easter wreaths and a grass caterpillar to name but a few. Craft workshops run between 10am to 4pm with most activities taking about an hour and a half. Prices range from £4 to £6.

10. EASTER events are being held around Southend to keep children busy over the holidays.

The Milton Community Partnership will begin the programme with tours of Sea Life Adventure on March 31 and Adventure Island on April 2.

The Sea Life Adventure day costs £5 and parties are asked to meet at the St Mark’s Centre on Princes Street at 2pm, while the Adventure Island event costs £15 and begins at the St Mark’s Centre at 1pm.
