IT'S the end of a long week and we're all looking forward to the weekend. So we've put together a list of ten things to do in Essex this weekend.

1. Boot sale

The South Woodham car boot sale will be held in Market Way, South Woodham Ferrers from 6.30am until 3pm this Saturday. It costs £5 a car or £10 a van.

2. World Record Attempt

Brightlingsea Free Fit Club will be joining in a Worldwide attempt to set a new record for the largest workout in history.

The workout is designed to be for all ages and all abilities. The free event will be held on The Promenade, Brightlingsea, on Saturday from 8.30am to 10am.

3. Benfleet Community Archive Annual Show 2015

'Benfleet On The Move' will be held at Benfleet Methodist Church, in High Road, on Saturday from 10am until 1pm.

It costs £1 for adults and children go free.

Transport - An exhibition, showing how it changed our lives and the face of Benfleet.

From horses and boats to railway, first cars, roads and bridges.

4. Spring Craft and Farmers Market

A wide range of stalls including fresh and homemade produce, beautiful gifts, original arts and crafts, Easter decorations, jewellery, cards and much more.

Come and see Dedham cookery club demonstrating their own recipes and taste and vote on your favourite one. Refreshments and free parking available.

Runs from 10.30am until 1.30pm at the Assembly Rooms, High Street, Dedham, Colchester.

5. Craft and Pampering Event for Mother's Day

Hope Community Church are holding an event on Saturday, March 7 between 10.30am and 12.30pm at Long Ridings Primary School, Brentwood, in preparation for Mother's Day.

Free with free refreshments.

6. Essex Society for Family History

The society will be meeting at 2pm on Saturday, March 7 at the Avenue Baptist Church Hall, Milton Road, Westcliff.

This month we have a very interesting talk relating to finding those hard to trace relative of the past. Our speaker Sharon Hintze, works at the National Archives at Kew.

The hall will be open from 12.30pm for research and enquiries

7. Thames Sailing Barge Trust film evening

An evening of films and including the Premiere of the film 'The Restoration of Centaur' will be held at Maldon Town Hall, Market Hill, Maldon, from 7.30pm until 10pm costing £7.50 in advance or £9.00 on the door.

Refreshments are available.

Tickets can be purchased from the Maldon Tourist Information Center, Wenlock Way, Maldon or by post from John Rayment, 12 Wisdoms Green, Coggeshall, Essex CO6 1SG. Please enclose a cheque payable to Thames Sailing Barge Trust and a stamped addressed envelope.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Trust to help maintain its two sailing barges.

8. Leisurely Countryside Cycle Ride

Join your friendly local CTC (Cyclists' Touring Club) cycling group at 9.15am Sunday morning for a leisurely ride from Wickford's Market Café in Woodlands Road (SS12 0AW) to a cafe for 'elevensies'.

If you're busy, you can head back home - but some of us usually go onto a countryside pub for lunch before heading home, usually stopping off at a tearoom en route for 'threesies'.

9. Essex Lace makers Craft and Suppliers Fair

Chelmer Valley High School, Broomfield, Chelmsford from 10am to 3.30pm this Sunday. £2 non members, members go free.

10. Southend Vintage Fair

On Sunday 8th March, Haddon Events will once again be hosting a vintage culture celebration The Chase Sports Centre, Prittlewell Chase, Westcliff.

The Southend Vintage Fair will feature over 50 stalls selling mid 20th Century fashion, accessories, homeware, furniture, collectables and art.

There will be a variety of both music and dancing, with A2 Jive showing off their moves.

Local singer Elisa Kiki Adams will be performing. Elisa is a Jazz Singer who specialises in all the popular tunes of the 30s and 40s.

As well as stalls and entertainment, there will be a vintage tea room, classic cars, scooters and a vintage hair stylist.

Entrance to the show will be just £3 for adults, £2 for OAPs/Students, and free for accompanied children.
