A CAMPAIGN has been launched to find one hundred new primary school teachers for Essex.

Thousands of extra places are needed for pupils and staff also need to be found to teach them.

The largest training provider in Essex, Thames Primary SCITT, has launched a recruitment drive in the area to find teachers to begin the one-year training in September.

Course Director Jo Palmer-Tweed said: “All training takes place ‘on the job’.

“We work closely with 95 Essex primary schools and our trainees spend time in a range of classroom-based placements whilst receiving practical, academic and emotional support from qualified and experienced teachers.

“We want to hear from anyone with an honours degree who is looking for a fantastic new career.

“It doesn’t matter what age they are or what background they have, as long as they have a desire to make a real difference to the lives of children in our primary schools.”

Partner schools include Cressing Primary School and Elmstead Primary School.

Ms Palmer-Tweed said: “We have 100 places available and there is already a great deal of interest so I would urge anyone interested to get in contact with us as soon as possible.”
