A NEW knife amnesty has been launched in Clacton.

The campaign, which will feature specially designed knife bins, got under way at the Only Cowards Carry antiweapons charity in the town’s Jackson Road yesterday.

The project is being supported by Essex Police, the county’s police and crime commissioner Nick Alston, and Tendring Council.

It follows a successful trial last summer, which saw more than 400 bladed items handed in to Clacton police station.
