TOWN councillors have been asked to provide evidence of the effect the streetlight switch-off has had on Frinton and Walton.
Tendring Council made the request as part of a bid to collect evidence from across the district.
Essex County Council switches the majority of streetlights off between midnight and 5am to save on cash and carbon emissions.
Tendring Council is considering whether to spend £127,000 to turn lights back on in the district – but is investigating if it’s the right move first.
Frinton and Walton Town Council is divided over the issue, but councillors agreed to provide the district council with evidence of incidents in Princes Esplanade, Walton, where they are actively seeking to see the lights switched back on to boost safety.
Councillors can submit their own evidence individually if there are other areas that concern them.
