A REVISED train service will run between the coast and Colchester at weekends for the next two months.

The move is part of Network Rail’s £15million upgrade, which will also see no weekend trains running between Colchester and London Liverpool Street.

The Greater Anglia line will be closed between Manningtree and Shenfield for eight weekends, starting on January 31.

Greater Anglia will put on replacement bus services, but ticket prices will remain the same.

In Colchester, engineers will be installing 2km of track to replace the existing track, which is more than 30 years old.

A Network Rail spokesman said: “Handing the railway back on time is absolutely crucial and is a major part of planning for these works.

“We can reassure passengers every engineer is aware of how important it is to return the railway to use on time.”

Greater Anglia will be running replacement buses.

A revised train service will also operate between Colchester Town and Clacton, Thorpe and Walton, and Manningtree and HarwichTown.
