AN elderly woman was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after falling in Clacton town centre.

Shop staff rushed to help the victim outside QD in Rosemary Road at 12.15pm on Friday.

Impressions clothes shop manager Fiona Messenger said: “I could see there was a head injury because of all the blood on the floor.

“We started chatting to her to keep her conscious until just before 1pm when the ambulance drove up.

Miss Messenger said the victim, who is believed to be in her 90s, remained conscious but was very confused.

The woman was taken to Colchester General Hospital.

An ambulance service spokesman said her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
