A TOWN council is gearing up for a David and Goliath fight over potholes.

Frinton and Walton Town Council wants to send a delegation to speak to County Hall leaders about their road problems.

Great Holland residents have flagged up a number of serious craters in the worst affected streets, including Rectory Road.

While the county council has set aside cash to fix many roads around Essex, some of the worst areas around Frinton and Walton did not make the cut.

Town councillor Robert Bucke has been writing to the county council on a daily basis in a bid to force it into action, but has now been ordered to stop.

He said: “The fact is in recent weeks we have received a list of roads that are going to be done and it doesn’t include these roads.

“They are some of the worst in the area and need to be prioritised."

The town council has joined Mr Bucke’s crusade.

It has tried to contact the Essex highways department regularly in the past, but with limited success.

Mayor Iris Johnson wants to send a delegation to discuss the problem with county council highways boss Rodney Bass.

In the meantime, residents have been encouraged to continue reporting potholes to the county council through its online report system.

The county council has already committed to tackling problems on 30 roads around Tendring over the next two months.
