MORE than 140 young hopefuls flocked to Clacton’s Princes Theatre on Sunday in a bid to win a part in the biggest production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat ever staged in the town.

Budding actors, singers and dancers, aged between nine and 14, turned out from across Tendring.

The show is being put on by world record holders Youth Theatre Performerz, who are officially recognised as staging the fastest show from script to stage.

Director Melissa Wenn said: “We were overwhelmed by the numbers that came along to the auditions and it was a fantastic turnout.”

Rehearsals will take place over the coming months before performances at the Princes Theatre next February.
