FRINTON has blown away the competition to strike gold and clinch the title of best small town in the prestigious Anglia in Bloom competition.
Delighted gardeners are celebrating after securing top prizes at the annual event.
Volunteers joined council staff in a massive effort to get the town looking its best when judges visited in July.
They were led around the town, taking in the allotments, award-winning gardens and spectacular floral displays.
And the hard work paid off, with Frinton clinching its sixth consecutive gold medal, as well as being named the best small town.
Mayor Iris Johnson said: “It is an absolutely brilliant result and we are all thrilled to bits.
“An awful lot of hard work is put into this every year. This year was no different and it is now paying dividends with this wonderful result.
“The gold medal is wonderful and winning best small town is icing on the cake.
“We couldn’t do this without David Foster. He leads the way for our wonderful volunteers who make this possible with their passion and dedication.”
The Triangle shopping centre celebrated after being shortlisted for the best commercial area, while Frinton’s Crescent Garden was named in the top five floral displays.
