TOWN councillors want to pour cold water on large barbecues on Frinton’s treasured greensward.
The council called for action to be taken against large groups who disturb others who want to enjoy the seafront.
Terry Allen said some groups were so large and intimidating that beach hut owners have packed up rather than confront them.
He said: “People at one beach hut packed up and left. There was such a large group that no-one wanted to say anything.”
Councillors are calling for Tendring Council’s seafront staff to enforce by-laws and tackle large groups with barbecues on the greensward.
