PLANS for a new budget supermarket on the site of Clacton’s Warwick Castle market have been recommended for approval.
Blueprints for the proposed Aldi store, at the Pier Avenue site, will go before Tendring Council’s planning committee on Tuesday.
The 990sq m store will create up to 30 jobs.
The proposals, which were submitted last July, are recommended for approval by planning officers who say they will help revitalise the site.
A report said: “In design terms, the building improves upon the vacant site in that it is a simple crisp modern design that creates an active frontage to the Old Road and Pier Avenue."
The store will also include landscaping of the eyesore site.
Aldi spokesman Roland Stanley previously said he was delighted by the interest shown in the scheme.
“We have received a lot of interest from people wishing to apply for a job in the store and we hope to be able to begin the recruitment process as soon as we can,” he said.
