THE A120 has been re-opened after a car caught on fire.

A young man suffered facial injuries after his car landed in a ditch between Ardleigh and Great Bromley just after 7.30am on Thursday, February 7.

Smoke was seen coming from it the car, on the eastbound carraigeway.

Three fire engines from Colchester and Weeley rushed to the incident, just before the junction with A133.

The fire was put out just before 8am and the victim, in his 20s, was taken to Colchester General Hospital with minor facial injuries.

Saw the aftermath from the opposite carriageway this morning. It made me fear for the driver, seeing a pall of smoke rising from a car which had mostly disappeared from view into the ditch mentioned.

Thankfully he only had minor injuries, so must have been able to exit his car quickly.
