SWIMMERS will be able to take the fundraising plunge at Tendring pools to raise cash for charity.

A national swimathon fundraiser has been organised to boost the coffers of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

People can take on sponsored swims of 5k, 2.5k or 1k at one of 600 participating swimming pools across the country.

The pools in Clacton and Walton are two of those picked to be part of the annual fundraiser.

Anne Hillion, community fundraiser in Essex said: “Every year people across Tendering take on our swimathon challenge and have a great time raising funds along the way.

“You can even choose to take part individually or as part of a team. This year we hope even more people will take the plunge and raise funds to help Marie Curie Nurses provide more free nursing care to terminally ill people in their own homes.”

It will take place from April 26-28.

People can sign up online at swimathon.org before April 24.
