A POPULAR free parking scheme in Tendring will continue next year despite millions of pounds of Government cuts.

Tendring Council faces an extra £3.1million of cuts next year due to the austerity measures, even though it already made £4.4million of cuts this year.

Despite the bleak outlook, Mr Halliday said there will be no increase in the authority’s council tax precept.

He outlined plans to spend £300,000 to continue the residents’ parking scheme, which has seen each home given a permit to park free in most council car parks after 10am.
