A GYM owner has backed the Gazette’s campaign to reduce knife crime.

Jake Hurn, owner of Iron Works Gym, Old Road, Clacton, will hand out scores of anti knife wristbands as part of the Gazette’s Lives Not Knives campaign.

The wristbands, branded with the campaign slogan, are part of the Gazette’s crusade to reduce knife crime in the area.

Mr Hurn, 24, said: “It’s a great idea and the campaign will raise awareness about the rise in knife crime in the area.

“A lot of people of different ages train here so hopefully we can get youths off the streets.

“Obviously parents want a safer environment for their children as well.

“There’s definitely a problem with knife crime in the area and over the past year it has got worse.”
