A DRIVER was caught out by a high tide in Brightlingsea.

The motorist had left their car on The Hard by the waterfront, but a seasonally high tide meant the sea crept up onto the road.

One eyewitness, Richard Laker, spotted the blue Citroen being swamped with water.

Mr Laker said: “The inside of the car had taken in the water but I'm told the car started first time when the owner came back at low tide. But they did have to get the standing water back out again.”

When I had a boat at Brightlinsea several times we had to warn people about where they had parked. I person we spoke to told us to mind our own business so we did, That mans car did NOT start after getting swamped.
