Olympic hockey star Chloe Rogers visits schools

SCHOOLCHILDREN were thrilled to meet an Olympic medallist who visited schools in Thorpe and Walton.

Team GB hockey player Chloe Rogers, who won a bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games, visited Tendring Technology College and Hamford Primary School.

She visited the schools to talk to students about her experiences and show off her medal.

The students were kept enthralled by a video of Chloe’s hockey highlights, before bombarding her with questions.

They also grabbed autographs and had pictures taken with the Olympian.

Tendring Technology College PE teacher Karen Harris said: “This was a great opportunity for our students to meet an Olympic star.

“We would like to thank her so much for coming. Hopefully this will inspire more young people to develop their hockey skills here at the school of join a club.”

Hamford headteacher Benedick Ashmore-Short said: “Chloe was really nice. She talked to our school newspaper and talked in our assembly, and was very complimentary of our school.

“We are looking to inspire our children and it is great for them to have someone coming in to look up to.

“It is also a good way to follow up on our Olympic success and make sure it has a lasting effect on our pupils.”
