Brightlingsea youth club's music comp success
11:30am Thursday 18th October 2012 in News
A MUSIC contest has been hailed a success after raising hundreds of pounds for a Brightlingsea youth club.
The battle of the bands competition was held over three weeks at the Geisha in Clacton.
Young musicians went through preliminary rounds to get to the final, with Wivenhoe-based band Puddlefish triumphing.
More than £350 was raised, which will go towards youth club 4Youth Brightlingsea.
One of the organisers Adrian Simcock said: “We are all very pleased with how it went.
“The turnout was brilliant and it raised a lot of money for the club.”
The youth club has also organised another gig night on Friday in tribute to legendary DJ John Peel.
The ‘John Peel Day’ event will take place at Brightlingsea Football Club from 7pm.
It has been put on with the help of Brightlingsea Free Music Festival.
Tickets cost £4 and proceeds will go to 4Youth.
