Dog wardens scoop prestigious award

DOG wardens in Tendring will be picking up prestigious awards for animal welfare at the House of Lords.

Tendring Council’s Allen East and Bev Wallis will be awarded two silvers and one bronze medal as part of the RSPCA’s Community Animal Welfare Footprints awards.

The awards are aimed to reward and promote good practice by local authorities and housing providers.

Council environment boss Nick Turner said he is delighted that the dog wardens’ outstanding work has received independent recognition.

The council entered its dog warden service under the stray dog category as well as the animal welfare principles section and scooped two silvers.

The housing team collected a bronze award for animal welfare in connection with providing council housing.

Mr East and Mrs Wallis have been invited to a reception at Westminster in December to mark the achievements.
