Tendring's former top cop takes charge of Westminster

TENDRING’S former chief police officer has taken charge of the streets of Westminster.

Alison Newcomb was the divisional commander for Tendring and Colchester in 2010 and 2011 before moving to the Metropolitan Police.

The fast rising officer and mum-of two is now the Westminster borough commander.

She is married to Tim Newcomb, assistant chief constable for Essex, who is currently on secondment with Suffolk Police.

Mrs Newcomb was in charge during a difficult time for the region with Government budget cuts resulting in several police stations closing.
