Business owners boost good cause with day-long dance-a-thon
5:00pm Wednesday 10th October 2012 in News
A FUNDRAISER organised by business owners at a Frinton shopping centre raised more nearly £500 for Children in Need.
Traders at The Triangle shopping centre organised a mass dancing and knitting event to raise cash and boost the profile of the centre.
It saw people working together to knit squares to form blankets and beadspreads, which will be raffled off at a later date.
Music was playing throughout the day for visitors to dance to as part of the all-day dance-a-thon.
It was organised with the help of Jill Lashmar from Creative Amateur Stage Theatre.
Chairman of the Triangle Traders Association Richard Allen said: “The idea of the event was to get people dancing and encourage them to put a £1 in the bucket.
“We raised £460 which should be increased over the next few weeks as more money rolls in."
The traders’ next event is on November 10, when they will be fundraising for the Royal British Legion poppy day appeal.
