Lifeboat launched to search for man spotted in the sea near Clacton

LIFEBOAT volunteers were called out to help with an early-morning search for a man reported to be in the sea up to his waist.

The D Class lifeboat was launched at 1.39am after reports of a man in the water between Martello Bay and Holland-on-Sea.

Crews searched the shoreline with the help of coastguards and the Sea King rescue chopper.

Police eventually found the man inshore and the lifeboat crew was stood down at 2.20am.

Forgive me but don't people normally go waist deep into the sea? Who called the lifeboats? Unless this article is very badly written we have yet again wasted precious resources on a hoax.
