Vicar brands knife attackers 'feral packs of hyenas'

A VICAR has hit out at those who commit knife crime as being “feral packs of hyenas”.

The Rev Alan Wright led the funeral service for Clacton teenager Jay Whiston last week.

The former St Helena Hospice chaplain also led the service for Liam Mearns, who was stabbed to death in Clacton last December.

“The people who commit knife crimes are feral packs of hyenas,” said Mr Wright.

“They act outside the boundaries of decent society, have no responsibility to society and no sense of right and wrong.

“They are immoral as they shouldn’t be carrying knives in the first place.

“They are cowards as they hunt in packs and have no strength of character.

“If they just thought that this sort of thing could happen to themselves or a family member, they would think again.”

Mr Wright, who has backed the Gazette’s Lives Not Knives campaign, said the community must work together to prevent knife crime.

“We must challenge it as a community,” he said.

“It is no good blaming the police, schools and teachers.

“We as parents have got to set standards at home.

“People in our society have changed their values and are obsessed with themselves . They talk about their rights, but never their responsibilities.

“We, the people, can sort this out.”
