Clacton residents launch petition against housing plans
4:00pm Friday 5th October 2012 in News
ANGRY residents have handed in a petition against a proposed development on their doorsteps.
Residents in Southcliff Park, Clacton, are fighting against the development of five new bungalows near their homes.
The plans would see an existing bungalow in Southcliff Park knocked down, and five new properties built in its place using the back garden area.
But nearby residents are unhappy with the plans and have launched the petition to fight them.
They handed it in to Tendring Council this week after collecting more than 100 signatures.
Les Lagsding, who has been spearheading the campaign said: “We have a lot of concerns about this.
“If this was to go ahead it would cause all sorts of access problems.
“It would also mean the destruction of trees and wildlife in the area.
“The neighbours don’t want new properties coming up to the boundaries of their back gardens. It would ruin the road for them.
“I have received a lot of support from people in the surrounding area through the petition.
“I really hope it will have an effect and council’s eyes to the strength of our feelings on the proposal."
The application has been submitted by Burfoot Construction Ltd.
