Homes urged to buy fuel before winter arrives

HOUSEHOLDS in Tendring which are heated by oil are being urged to get their supplies in early before bad weather hits.
The Federation of Petroleum Suppliers has joined up with the Citizens Advice Bureau, Consumer Focus and others to launch the Buy Oil Early Campaign.
Campaigners say oil is usually cheaper now when demand is lower and ordering now means deliveries will not be disrupted by bad weather.
Mark Askew, chief executive of the FPS, said: “Payments for bulk oil deliveries can cause customers problems especially around Christmas.
By planning deliveries now customers can ensure they have the oil they need to keep warm and fit the payment into their budget more easily.”
Energy minister John Hayes has given his support to the campaign.
