Neighbourhood watch aims to help Clacton turn the corner
8:00am Friday 5th October 2012 in News
TENDRING’S neighbourhood watch has been inundated with interest following a series of serious incidents in the district.
The group held an awareness day in Clacton town centre on Saturday.
Chairman Mike Vaughan-Chatfield said: “We have had a real upsurge in interest in the neighbourhood watch and that was apparent on Saturday.
“I’m delighted with the response we have had. People realise that the police have suffered cutbacks but we work closely with them to try and minimise the effect that has had.
“People want to protect their communities.
“They don’t want drugs or anti-social behaviour on their doorsteps, and the neighbourhood watch helps people take charge and help put an end to it safely.
“Following some of the recent incidents I hope this is a sign that people want to come together and help our area turn the corner.
“It is certainly a step in the right direction, and I hope we get even more people on board to help make the neighbourhood watch even more effective.”
Anyone interested in joining the watch can call its 24-hour helpline on 01255 814801.

I believe the knowledge that they would forfeit their own lives when caught would have been a strong deterrent. Hindley, Brady and Sutcliffe (to name only a few) knew there was no death penalty for murder. Breivic surrendered to the police rather than be shot by them, he knew that he would probably get about 10 years inside with an appeal or parole. He is a coward so do you really think that he'd have committed the crimes he did if he knew for certain that he'd be executed for committing them?

/training), then this would be the next option. If they are not qualified for Uni, then let the Services mould them. This would alleviate boredom, anti social behavior, the potential for riot, and would give our youth a much needed change of attitude and perception in the the community. It would be partly funded by redirecting their Job-seeker Allowance / ESA to cover some of the training costs.
We can avoid vigilante style policing by giving our youths a better way of using their time and talents and this will give them back a sense of pride for themselves. There is an e-petition at:

s/37363.
I would ask that people sign it and place it on their Facebook and Twitter pages to get it out there and remember enough signatures would get Parliament discussing the issue of disillusioned, bored youths who do nothing with their lives.
