Teens offered help to stop smoking
10:20am Wednesday 3rd October 2012 in News By Will Lodge
Youth Help Champions at the Colne Community School and College with stop smoking kits Emma Burrows (left) of Colchester and Tendring Stop Smoking with student Natalie Smith, 17.
QUIT kits have been launched to help teens give up smoking.
Schools across north east Essex are encouraged to join forces with health specialists to target young smokers.
Anglian Community Enterprise (ACE), which runs community healthcare across the area, is giving out the kits which include information about smoking, advice on how to give up and practical distraction aids through schools.
A welcome text will be sent and participants will be able to text the service for tips and advice at any time. Those who manage to quit for four weeks will receive a voucher for a free swim or exercise session at a local leisure centre.
The kits were officially launched at the Colne Community School and College, Brightlingsea, earlier this week.
For more information on the scheme contact Emma Burrows at emma.burrows@acecic.nhs.uk or call 01206 545134.

Having to walk past a huddled group blowing foul tainted air is unhealthy & must be banned.
Allowing smokers somewhere to smoke near a hospital is sending the wrong message.
It should be discouraged.
Nicotine is a stimulant, contrary to what smokers say 'smoking keeps me calm' in actual fact add a stimulant to stress & you get more stress.
