Dogathon takes the lead for brain charity

A CHARITY dog show is set to take place on Clacton seafront this weekend.

The Headway Essex Coastal Dogathon and dog show is celebrating its 14th year.

The event includes a sponsored walk, which will raise cash for those with brain injury and their families.

Anna Smith, one of the organisers, said: “Last year more than 50 canines joined us on this fun event.

“We are hoping that even more will take part this year. We look forward to a lot of barking and tail-wagging on the day.”

The two-and-a-half mile walk will start at Hazelmere Road, Holland-on-Sea, after which there will be the chance to win prizes, certificates and rosettes in the fun dog show.

The categories include best dog and owner lookalike, the most colourful character, the best look dog and the one with the waggiest tail.

The event is being held from 10.30am on Sunday and is supported by Snoopies Grooming Salon and Bow Wow Pet Photography and is sponsored by Barking Mad Home from Home Pet Care.
