1:02pm Sunday 30th September 2012 in News
A MAN was seriously injured after trying to break up an argument in Clacton.
The victim, his girlfriend and a male friend, all in their 20s, tried to calm down an argument between a man and woman on Pier Avenue.
The pair turned on the group and attacked them, seriously injuring one of the men.
He suffered serious cuts to his head and leg, and may require surgery.
It is believed broken glass may have been used to cause the injuries.
The victim is still in hospital but is in a stable condition.
The incident happened on Pier Avenue at about 1am on Sunday.
Det Sgt Jules Coles said: “It was an extremely nasty attack on people who were just trying to help and we want to hear from anyone who saw what happened or from anyone who can identify the man and woman involved.”
The woman was in her late teens, about 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build, with shoulder-length brown hair.
She was wearing a dress that was high at the front, low at the back and with a zip on the front.
The top part of the dress was white and the lower section of a dark colour. She was also wearing black high-heel shoes.
The man was white, skinny, about the same height and in his late teens or early 20s.
Anyone with information should contact officers at Clacton on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
