Police appeal for information on missing man

POLICE are still searching for a vulnerable man who disappeared from Clacton Hospital on Friday.

David Royle, 66, went missing from the Peter Bruff ward and was last seen near Boley Drive in Clacton on Friday night.

He is described as white, 5ft fins tall and of slim build. He has a beard and shoulder-length light brown and grey hair, thinning on top but swept back and combed.

Mr Royle was last seen wearing a dark blazer and trousers, a light coloured shirt, tie and a flat cap.

Insp Gary Chapman said: "Mr Royle has been missing for 24 hours and might have been outside all night. We are extremely concerned for his welfare.

"Unfortunately we do not yet have a recent picture of Mr Royle, but he is a very distinctive looking man with long swept-back hair and he was smartly dressed in blazer, short and tie.

"If anyone has seen him around Clacton or surrounding area they should phone officers at Clacton on 101 immediately.”

The search has involved police officers, coastguards and lifeboat volunteers.
