Great Bentley community rallies around young leukemia sufferer
8:00am Monday 1st October 2012 in News
A COMMUNITY has rallied around a brave youngster after she was diagnosed with leukemia.
Young Isabelle Franklin, 4, of Great Bentley, was a carefree little girl until she was diagnosed with the disease in May.
Isabelle faced chemotherapy, bone marrow operations and blood transfusions, and will continue to receive treatment for the next two years.
Mum Sue said: “When we found out it just turned our whole world upside down completely.
“She has her ups and downs but she has handled it well.
“We are so proud of her. It’s hard to understand how she manages so well despite being so young."
After hearing about Isabelle’s illness, a group of mums from Great Bentley whose children go to school with the youngster decided to help the family.
They have organised a series of events for Isabelle and children’s charity CLIC Sargent.
Events include a fun day on September 29 at Great Bentley village hall and a quiz night on October 13. For more details on the events contact Claire on 07769734749.
Isabelle’s dad Adam will also be doing a sponsored climb of Ben Nevis in October to boost the fundraising efforts.
