Burger van has its chips
3:00pm Thursday 27th September 2012 in News
A BURGER van will no longer be allowed to use a site near to people’s homes in Clacton.
Penny Smith, of Smith Farms, applied for retrospective permission to put the hut on land between St John’s Road and Wordsworth Way, next to Clacton Garden Centre.
The land was previously used for parking farm machinery, but has been used by the burger van since April.
More than 20 people signed a petition against the proposals.
Nearby resident John Priseman said: “The back gardens of homes in Shelley Road are very close to the burger trailer and one resident said the smell of cooking makes her feel very sick at times.”
The proposal was refused by Tendring Council planners.
