Walton Co-op to move into old amusement arcade during £600,000 revamp

A HIGH Street food shop in Walton will move to a former seafront amusement arcade while its building is revamped.

The town’s High Street Co-op store is about to receive a £600,000 transformation.

The business has moved to a disused amusement arcade on the corner of The Parade and Old Pier Street.

It will be there for about two months while work takes place.

Roger Grosvenor, executive officer for the East of England Co-operative said: “The Society has taken steps to ensure our members and customers will not be left without supplies while the work takes place.

“We have secured a vacant property on the seafront for the duration of the store’s closure to supply customers with their daily provisions.”

The temporary store was set to open its doors on Sunday, but due to a problem with the phone lines the opening has been delayed until this Thursday.

Maybe thats the reason Co-op want to remain competitive within there own size.
if the store never had a good customer base, they would not spend £600.000 on a revamp.

Tescos in the high street will move out when its new store gets built, leaving local & visiting shoppers popping into Co-op`s near seafront shop still.

well done Co-op I say.

Bravo The Co-Op, good to see it's getting a revamp.

As for Joesamsonit's comment - The local Co-Op's in other parts of Tendring offer a breath of fresh air compared to Tesco.

With the Co-Op you get, Better service, fresher products, More Locally sourced products, friendlier staff, and dare I say it a different class of customer............
...You don't get the "Little Britain" Shopper or Member of the great unwashed as you find in tescos!!!

Keep up the good work CO-OP!

Bramble, I did not say the co op are no good I just said they wont survive the Tesco domination, there is no need for the “as for” aggressive attitude is there.Time well tell.
