Sneak thief steals old woman's handbag

HEARTLESS burglars sneaked into an elderly lady’s home and stole her handbag.
 

Police are appealing for information after the burglary at a ground floor flat in Marine Parade West, Clacton, sometime in the past few days.
 

The brown leather handbag had keys, cash and a cheque book inside.
 

Anyone with information call Det Con Jo Mangham at Clacton police station on 101.

Totally agree and much better saying "elderly lady" rather than the abusive headline "old woman".

I think a little retraining of the press staff would be in order so that terms like 'old lady' are retired from such reporting. In fact, phrases like 'Old Aged Pensioners' should also be replaced by the kinder and more respectful American term 'Senior Citizen'. Just my two cents worth.
