Frinton wins gold in annual Anglia in Bloom competition

GOLD medal fever has hit Frinton after the town was awarded a top prize for its gardens and green spaces.

Frinton scooped its third consecutive gold medal in the regional Anglia in Bloom competition.

Volunteer gardeners from Frinton in Bloom worked alongside council staff to get the town looking its best for the contest.

Judges visited the town in July and were taken on a tour of its top floral sites, including Cottage Garden and Frinton’s Green Flag-bearing Crescent Gardens.

The results were finally revealed at an awards ceremony in St Ives last week.

Frinton in Bloom chairman David Foster collected the prize.

He said: “We are all obviously completely delighted.

“I’m pleased for everyone who has worked so hard to make this happen. It takes a lot of time and effort and a lot of people working together, and we have that here.

“In their report the judges described us as the jewel in the crown of the British seaside."
