Another crash at accident blackspot in Clacton

A CONCERNED resident claims it is only a matter of time before someone is killed at an accident blackspot following another crash.

There has been a series of crashes at the junction between Ellis Road and West Avenue in Clacton.

In the latest incident at the spot, two cars smashed into each other at about 6pm on Monday.

No one was seriously hurt in the collision, but nearby residents say the road needs to be changed.

Brenda Grindrod, of Ellis Road said: “It is usually cars coming from West Avenue and not stopping as they go across Ellis Road.

“All of the residents around here are fed up of seeing cars crash into each there.

“One of these days I know somebody will be killed there. It is not an ‘if’ but a ‘when’.

“It is dangerous for pedestrians too because people pull out without stopping.”

Mrs Grindrod wants to see the ‘Give Way’ signs on West Avenue changed to ‘Stop’ signs, to encourage drivers to stop and look before entering the junction.

Essex County Council will visit the site, and encouraged residents to report any concerns they had about the safety of the road.

Couldn't agree more with this resident! I had an accident here in 2009 where a car failed to stop coming from West road, hitting me and writing off my car. The council installed a speed bump after a succession of accidents which led to a definite improvement, where people appear to generally slow down along Ellis road, although West road most certainly remains the problem. I feel a stop sign would be ignored like the one close to Morrisons often is (forget road name). Why not just install a mini roundabout and be done with it? or make a speed bump with four sides facing West road and Ellis Road. A change most certainly needs to be made!

It needs something physical to make people stop like a huge speed bump. Signs and road markings are ignored by many people in Clacton all the time e.g Lidls car park where a dirty big left turn arrow and "Left Turn" in two foot high letters are ignored by the majority of people !

DO NOT TRUST THE GAZETT’S COOKIES
Some developers have been known to use cookies to gather information without the user's knowledge. Perhaps this is one reason behind why they have been erroneously tagged as spyware. Usually this form of abuse stems from using cookies differently then the developer has stated in their privacy policy through omission or deception. This type of abuse is typically very difficult to pinpoint. Normally this type of abuse is not a major security threat but more a threat to the end user’s privacy.
Another point of potential and common abuse is in the work environment. IT Managers have been known to audit cookies. This means they may look through cookie folders and URL surfing history to determine where a user has been surfing or what they are doing with their time at the workstation. Cookies can provide a lot of information on a user’s surfing habits if you know where to look. For example it is easy to probe through the browser and other program’s data to get a general idea of what a user is doing online or where they are shopping. Likewise it will show if a user’s machine has been connected to a URL that serves adult content. This is a case of a benign technology being abused for covert purposes.
I have had them looked at by an it expert they are NOT benign by a long shot

As I live in sight of this junction I see near accidents almost every day, drivers seem to be in total confusion when they cross. It is also down to ignorance and impatience of drivers.
